Gigi Hadid Wore Ballet Flats in the Most Non-French Girl Way

It's become quite apparent that the ballet flats shoe trend is here for a long-term stay, and I fully support this. But I suspect that French women would argue that ballet flats are a wardrobe staple as opposed to a trend, as they've been wearing them non-stop for years (sometimes clichés are true).

I bring this up because Gigi Hadid was just photographed on the streets of New York wearing a pair of ballet flats, but it was what she wore them with that's of note—and it was quite different from how French girls typically style ballet flats.

Hadid paired her black Mansur Gavriel ballet flats with an oversized white button-down shirt and baggy black trousers. It was an undeniably "New York" look. The French, on the other hand, often pair ballet flats with skirts or dresses. There are certainly many exceptions to this, but I see this combination a lot when French women wear ballet flats.
